Non-upgradeable PC

February 17th, 2009

What made the PC a PC was it’s ability to be upgraded in many ways, from expansion cards, to the CPU or even the motherboard, and it’s always presented as an advantage over a Mac: how could you change the CPU of any actual Mac, except maybe the Mac Pro?

With Windows Vista, and it’s strong DRM policy, if you upgrade the CPU of your PC, you’ll loose definitily all the song and video downloaded or bought on the Windows Media Center.

So, as many users that upgraded their Vista’s PC CPU discovered, now PC are non-upgradeable :-)
