What made the PC a PC was it’s ability to be upgraded in many ways, from expansion cards, to the CPU or even the motherboard, and it’s always presented as an advantage over a Mac: how could you change the CPU of any actual Mac, except maybe the Mac Pro?
With Windows Vista, and it’s strong DRM policy, if you upgrade the CPU of your PC, you’ll loose definitily all the song and video downloaded or bought on the Windows Media Center.
So, as many users that upgraded their Vista’s PC CPU discovered, now PC are non-upgradeable

500GB 2.5
I actually own a MacBook Pro “Santa Rosa” 2×2.4Ghz/4GB/200GB.
I need more room for my photos and music, that are staying on an external USB2 hard-drive, approximately 300GB of content that I would like to be able to get with me, on my MacBook Pro, not on an external hard-drive.
I wonder if I should buy a 500GB 2.5″ SATA HD to upgrade my Mac, for $300 (approx.), or wait to change for a new MacBook Pro, within 6 months and then add a 500GB HD that will cost me less (within 6 months) and wont need 100$ to be installed
