Why buy a netbook for OS X?

February 23rd, 2009

There’s many people that began to buy netbooks to put Mac OS X inside.

They spend time hacking OS X to install on a non-Apple netbook, they usually have one or more features that doesn’t work well (say wifi/airport or bluetooth), they fear to update the system, leaving knwon security holes on a computer that will be use din public places including universities and cafes. A true non-sense!

For less that it cost them to buy a netbook, they could buy an used iBook 12″ or better a PowerBook 12″, that is on the same form-factor, run Mac OS X flawlessly (and legally), that doesn’t need trick to install, may be updated everytime, so is intrinsequely more secure, and there’s 2 competitive advantages:

- The PowerPC G4 on iBook & PowerBook is far faster than the Intel Atom found in many netbooks (see MacWorld article comparing Atom NetBook and PowerBook)

- You’ll have the full look & feel of a real Mac, because theyr are real Mac :-)
