I tried Safari4 Beta yesterday but I was annoyed ’cause of the lack of visual feedback when I click on a link or a page is being loaded from Internet, kinda “black hole”. Do I have cliked correctly? Is the link correct? What happened?
Sure it’s juste 1 or 2 seconds, but it annoyed me…
Ven send me the solution in the form of 2 commands to use on the terminal (without the preceding $ sign, and followed by RETURN key for each):
$ defaults write com.apple.Safari DebugSafari4IncludeToolbarRedesign -bool NO
$ defaults write com.apple.Safari DebugSafari4LoadProgressStyle -bool NO

There’s many people that began to buy netbooks to put Mac OS X inside.
They spend time hacking OS X to install on a non-Apple netbook, they usually have one or more features that doesn’t work well (say wifi/airport or bluetooth), they fear to update the system, leaving knwon security holes on a computer that will be use din public places including universities and cafes. A true non-sense!
For less that it cost them to buy a netbook, they could buy an used iBook 12″ or better a PowerBook 12″, that is on the same form-factor, run Mac OS X flawlessly (and legally), that doesn’t need trick to install, may be updated everytime, so is intrinsequely more secure, and there’s 2 competitive advantages:
- The PowerPC G4 on iBook & PowerBook is far faster than the Intel Atom found in many netbooks (see MacWorld article comparing Atom NetBook and PowerBook)
- You’ll have the full look & feel of a real Mac, because theyr are real Mac

What made the PC a PC was it’s ability to be upgraded in many ways, from expansion cards, to the CPU or even the motherboard, and it’s always presented as an advantage over a Mac: how could you change the CPU of any actual Mac, except maybe the Mac Pro?
With Windows Vista, and it’s strong DRM policy, if you upgrade the CPU of your PC, you’ll loose definitily all the song and video downloaded or bought on the Windows Media Center.
So, as many users that upgraded their Vista’s PC CPU discovered, now PC are non-upgradeable

I think that PowerPC Mac are not as powerful as actual Mac, even the fastest PowerMac G5 Quad could not compete in term of raw CPU power with a Mac Mini of today!
But many people stille use their PowerPC G4 Mac, such as my PowerBook G4 15″ HD (that is my Backup computer). so it’s cool to be able to run iLife’09, even if some applications are heavy to handle.
Here is a link to enable use of iLife’09 on PowerPC G4 Mac.
Remember to put as much RAM as possible, and close all other applications, I recommend at least 1GB and will prefer 2GB (Hey it’s 15$ for 2GB stick these days!)
