Microsoft Tax

January 5th, 2009

Yes, when you use a Mac for your work you have to pay the “Microsoft Tax”, the tax that Microsoft want you to pay for not using Vista on your Mac!

This tax comes with the Microsoft Office for Mac, that is always expensier from 40$ to 100$ than it’s PC counterpart. And it’s not to pay for a better service, as Steve Ballmer (Microsoft CEO) stated, “you don’t really get full Microsoft Office” when paying the Microsoft Tax. (read here)

So my advice is to forget Microsoft Office, expensier and uncomplete (from Steve Balmer’s own words), and go to Apple’s iWork’08 that I appreciate for my reports or presentations, or even the Open-Source all-in-one solution with OpenOffice natively and fully ported on Mac OS X.
